7. Kyrie Irving

As far as Neymar’s situation goes, Kyrie Irving probably understands where he’s coming from the most. He too wants to escape from the best player in the world’s shadow and become the man on another team. While Irving hasn’t been successful in forcing a move yet, it would be a surprise at this point if he started the season on the Cavaliers.

Irving might be the player who’d most want to see a transfer system implemented. Why go to a new team in exchange for Eric Bledsoe, Dragan Bender and a first-rounder – among others? Why not join a team for hundreds of millions of dollars instead? His value will only be driven up by the fact that he sunk the title-winning shot for the Cavs back in 2016.

Unlike Neymar, people aren’t as sure about Irving’s prospects of leading a new team to a title. He wouldn’t be the only option on a team like the Suns – who have Devin Booker – or the Timberwolves – who have Karl-Anthony Towns and Jimmy Butler. And while he could easily average 30 points a game on those teams, people are still skeptical of him because of his poor defense, his numbers without LeBron James and the fact that the Cavs never made the playoffs when he was the main guy.

Still, there are very few teams that can claim to have a better starting point guard than Irving. He’s still one of the best ball-handlers and isolation scorers we’ve ever seen in the NBA. And if he’s the main man on your team, chances are you’re making it far.

Potential transfer fee: $165 million
