3. Tom Brady

Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback of all time. That was true before Super Bowl LI, but he put any notion proclaiming otherwise to bed afterward. And even though he’s at an age where athletes should be declining, he’s managed to save his best achievement for last when he engineered the greatest NFL comeback ever.

Brady is synonymous with football. Even people who don’t watch a second of the NFL know who he is. Imagining him in another jersey would be unthinkable, and a king’s ransom might not be enough to convince him to leave New England.

A few people argue that Brady’s a system quarterback, in part because of how well Jimmy Garoppolo has played and the fact that the Patriots still went 11-5 when Matt Cassel was their starter. While part of that’s true, there’s no way you can put any quarterback in New England and have them go on to achieve the same amount of success that Brady has. He is living proof that the clutch gene exists because he has it.

With Brady entering this season at the age of 40, many people are wondering how many years he has left in the tank. He believes he can go for another five years. Considering the peak physical condition he keeps himself in as well as the fact that he’s only suffered one major injury, it’s not crazy to think he can’t keep performing at a high level during those five years. Another Super Bowl certainly isn’t out of the question since the Patriots will continue to be dominant as long as he’s still around.

If Brady wasn’t 40 years old, he’d be the top player on this list. His transfer fee would still have to be astronomical, though, because of his status and what he can bring to the table. Brady can take any team to the playoffs, including the Jets.

Potential transfer fee: $325 million
