1. Manchester United

Look, I know what you’re thinking. And you’re right. Manchester United as the most interesting team in the Premier League is a pretty cliche pick. But just let me list off a few details for you.

United hold the record for most Premier League titles (13), but they haven’t won the league since 2013. Forbes ranked them as the most valuable soccer team in the world even though they finished outside the top four the past two seasons.

This will be their first season without Wayne Rooney in almost two decades. Love him or hate him, I know you respect him. He once did this with a soccer ball. Now he’s gone.

United’s manager is freaking Jose Mourinho, probably the most polarizing soccer coach in the history of the world. He signed Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof. They now have the best squad they’ve had since they won their last Premier League title.

They also have Paul Pogba, one of the most polarizing soccer players ever. He seems perpetually on the brink of super-duper stardom. In the lineup United are now able to trot out, can he finally become the difference maker the Red Devils need to get back to the top of the mountain?

Next: GoT characters as Premier League players

Will young guns like Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford step up? Will Henrikh Mkhitaryan become a world-class playmaker? Will the Theatre of Dreams become the home of glory once again, or will it be filled with the nightmares like the past few seasons? Will Luke Shaw ever be a good soccer player? What the hell is going on with Zlatan? Will Marouane Fellaini finally disappear forever?

These questions, and the answers to them, will make Manchester United a very interesting team to watch this season.

I’ll see you all after week one for an update.
