It didn’t take very long for Wayne Rooney to show us all just how happy he really is to be back with Everton
There were a lot of storylines to watch play out during the Premier League offseason, but undoubtedly one that made a lot of buzz was one of the best players in league history, Wayne Rooney, making his return to Everton. After spending the last 13 years with powerhouse Manchester United, it was time for Rooney to go back to where it all began for him and his senior career, and you could tell that he was happy to be back.
Well, with the opening weekend of Premier League action here, Rooney wasted no time in showing everyone on the pitch just how happy he is to be back with Everton and that he’s more than ready to contribute to the club as only he can.
Everton is opening up their 2017-18 Premier League campaign against Stoke City on Saturday, and during stoppage time in the first half, it was time for Rooney to make his mark. He took a beautiful pass and headed it right into the net to score his first goal of the season for himself and Everton. This also happened to be Rooney’s 199th goal of his illustrious Premier League career.

Just a beautiful play all around and Rooney has indeed arrived back for Everton after all those years away. What may have been the best part about all of this, though, is watching the Everton supporters celebrate the goal, as they’re just as happy to see Rooney back with the club as he is to be back where his career began in the Premier League.
