Both the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles took it on the chin last week. Here’s the info you need to watch these teams clash.

Chicken wings or cheese steaks? It’s certainly not one of the more important questions you will ever have to answer. But it’s a nice way to segue into this preseason meeting between the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles. Last week, new head coach Sean McDermott saw his team fall at home to the Minnesota Vikings. Meanwhile, the Birds lost at Lambeau Field to the Aaron Rodgers-less Pack.

The connections between these AFC and NFC East franchises are numerous. McDermott used to work for the Eagles and Philadelphia’s defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz held that title in Buffalo in 2014. Bills’ running back LeSean McCoy began his career with Eagles.

So did wide receiver Jordan Matthews, who was just dealt to the team from Orchard Park (along with a third-round draft choice in 2018) in exchange for cornerback Ronald Darby.  As ESPN’s Mike Rodak reports, Matthews suffered a chip fracture to his sternum this past Sunday in practice. It remains to be seen if the third-year wideout will see action in this contest.

When it comes to the Birds, one huge bright spot in last week’s loss at Lambeau Field was the play of first-round defensive end Derek Barnett. The former University of Tennessee product and the 14th overall pick in April’s draft totaled four tackles and two sacks against the Packers.

We didn’t see much offense from either the Buffalo Bills or Philadelphia Eagles in their preseason debuts. That should change a bit on Thursday night, although both of these defensive unit won’t make it easy on any quarterback who drops back to pass in this contest.
