ACC Football 2017: Biggest x-factor for every team
By Trey Daubert
Virginia Tech – The Edmunds Brothers
Virginia Tech has a long history of recruiting entire families to the program. Remember the Fuller brothers? Four siblings went to the NFL from Virginia Tech. Now it’s the Edmunds brothers, Terrell and Tremaine. The duo of defenders will be the second and third brothers as Trey is on the Saints roster as a running back.
Tremaine is the 6-foot-5, 235-pound uber-athletic linebacker that causes havoc. Terrell does his thing in the secondary as a hard-hitting safety. It’s tough to imagine where Virginia Tech would be without them as they play a huge part on defense. Virginia Tech has a long line of defensive backs which started with their former head coach Frank Beamer.
Tremaine Edmunds makes plays all over the field but most of them are near the line of scrimmage where he stops plays in their tracks. Meanwhile, Terrell allowed the lowest passer rating in the country last season (48.5).
Imagine how fun it is to play with your brother on a college football team. They have amazing chemistry together as the Hokies always put together a good defense. Virginia Tech does lose quarterback Jerod Evans to start off the season which obviously hurts. Many pundits did not expect Evans to declare as he went undrafted. Virginia Tech did play in the ACC championship game a year ago and can return if they can find quality quarterback play.
