ACC Football 2017: Biggest x-factor for every team

Georgia Tech – Dedrick Mills
Georgia Tech loves to run the football. Running back Dedrick Mills is at the center of Georgia Tech’s running attack. Paul Johnson’s offense with the Yellow Jackets is a ton of fun to watch. He’s famous for his flexbone spread option offense that has garnered him a ton of success at the college level. The ceiling with any Georgia Tech team will always start with the ground game.
Johnson’s system has proved to work as he is fifth in College Football in active wins among D1 teams. If you’re familiar with Navy’s offense, Johnson was the culprit in their success as well. This time he has Dedrick Mills leading the ground game who is coming off a great Freshman season.
Mills rushed for 771 yards on 152 carries for 12 touchdowns. His 5.1 yards per carry average is impressive in its own right. With any Paul Johnson running back, he also only caught just two passes making this one of the most run heavy teams every single year. Like always, regardless of who the quarterback is for Georgia Tech, he will likely be on the move. Taquon Marshall and Matthew Jordan are battling for the stating quarterback job at the moment. If you’re looking for another to love Dedrick Mills, look no further than the job he does in the offseason.
“The guy who oversaw things at the funeral home saw me out on the field, and he knew I had a future to go on to play college. So he just said he wanted to give me a job to keep me out of trouble and help out with my family because he knew we were struggling a little bit. So he took care of us,” Dedrick Mills said via ESPN.
