1. Isaiah Thomas is a defensive liability against the Warriors in a Finals’ matchup

Here’s the biggest issue with adding Isaiah Thomas. It doesn’t help Cleveland on the defensive end of the floor — it probably makes them worse actually.

One of the biggest problems the Cavaliers wanted to fix this offseason was their defensive personnel. Their biggest trading chip was Kyrie Irving, who could be flipped for a defensive-first point guard and some other two-way players.

Adding Thomas accomplishes maybe one of those things. Thomas’ height limits him from being a good defender and it won’t help at all against Golden State.

The Warriors are really good at exploiting your weakness and taking players who only play one side of the floor away from the game.

With Thomas, the Cavaliers might not be able to play him much during the Finals — if they face the Warriors.
