Madden 18: Every NFL team’s best Madden player ever
Indianapolis Colts: Peyton Manning
When they literally change the game for you, you are probably considered pretty important in the Madden world. EA Sports basically did just that back in 2006 with its changes to the passing game, and Peyton Manning’s impressive performances for the Indianapolis Colts were a big reason for the switch.
Manning has a case to be made for being the Denver Broncos’ best all-time Madden player as well, but it’s tough to top how dominant he was with the Colts back around 2006. In Madden NFL 06, EA Sports added a “QB Vision” feature and a “Precision Passing” feature, both of which players could basically look off defenders and deliver pin-point passes all at the flick of a wrist on their controllers.
While there were plenty of quarterbacks that made this fun, like Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger, Manning was likely the biggest reason for the new feature. Manning’s awareness in the game was incredible, and utilizing the new features gave him a huge field of vision and some great accuracy to work with to deliver strikes to his receivers.
Manning was an absolute horror to play against in Madden games, but if you had the pleasure of playing with him on your team, you could easily agree that he was one of the best quarterbacks to ever play with in the game.
Oh, and I guess it’s no big deal that Manning has garnered the most 99 overall ratings in Madden’s long history over the years, so I guess that’s pretty important, too.
