Arizona Cardinals: Larry Fitzgerald

Unfortunately for Larry Fitzgerald, he’s a part of one of the few Madden covers where players had to share the spotlight, but make no mistake about the fact that the Arizona Cardinals legend was without a doubt the franchise’s best player in any Madden game ever.

Fitzgerald shared the cover alongside Troy Polamalu in 2010 after the two’s teams faced off in a legendary Super Bowl XLIII, and both players ended up getting the star treatment in that installment of the game. They both received 99 overall ratings, alongside a few others, and were the best of the best in the game’s huge roster of talent.

However, Fitzgerald really shined the most in the game, and was an absolute terror on offense with Kurt Warner throwing him the ball. With Anquan Boldin by his side as a 94 overall himself, Warner and players alike had endless options to utilize on offense, Fitzgerald was a part of a “pick your poison” type of offense, and he was a huge threat on any deep balls in games.

Wide receivers are a big reason for why Madden can be such a fun game, and Fitzgerald really exemplified why gamers wanted to pick up the controller in that year’s game. He made it entertaining with his insane catches and surprising speed for his size, and was an incredible player in the virtual world.

It may have been the Super Bowl bump that many players get when it comes to Madden ratings, but Fitzgerald is an all-time great in a Cardinals uniform, and he was treated as such in the 2010 game.
