NFL power rankings: Who is biggest threat to Patriots?
By Brad Weiss
For the second Summer in a row, the Denver Broncos starting quarterback job was up for grabs. In 2016, Trevor Siemian came out of nowhere to win the job from first round pick Paxton Lynch, and veteran Mark Sanchez. He played pretty well in his first season under center, but still had to win the job this Summer with a new head coach in place.
Well, Siemian did just that again, and really dominated the competition this time. He is once again the signal-caller for the Broncos, who boast one of the best defenses in all of football. If Siemian can control the ball, and the team can find any resemblance of a running game, this Broncos team could be headed back to the playoffs after missing out in 2016.
In Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas, the Broncos have one of the better wideout tandems in all of football. Last season, the offensive line really struggled, but they should be better in 2017. The defense is going to be the reason they make it a three-team race in the AFC West, and the unit will once again be led by star linebacker, Von Miller.
Defensive end Derek Wolfe dodged a bullet this offseason with his ankle injury, and Shane Ray should be back early in the season. They both play such key roles on this defense, and are a big reason this team is going to win more than they lose in 2017. Look for the Broncos to battle it out for the division this season, and if they can get a solid run game, they should definitely be in the mix for at least a wild card.
