NFL power rankings: Who is biggest threat to Patriots?
By Brad Weiss
When the Chicago Bears traded up one spot to take University of North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, it certainly turned some heads. However, after the first two weeks of the preseason, Trubisky is turning heads of his own, and some are already calling for him to be the starter for Week 1. The Bears spent a lot of money bringing in Mike Glennon to be their quarterback, at least for 2017, so expect Trubisky to start the year on the bench.
No matter who is under center, the Bears offense is going to revolve around their workhorse running back. Jordan Howard had an incredible season in 2016, finishing second in the league in rushing yards. While Alshon Jeffery is gone from the wideout group, the Bears do bring back Cameron Meredith, who made be a WR1 in waiting.
Chicago heads into the 2017 season with a new secondary, and a defense that should be much improved. The key to this team is going to be to play good defense, and run the ball effectively, which should lead to some wins. A last place finish in the NFC North is likely for the Bears, but they do look like they did a nice job via the draft this past April.
Offensive guard Kyle Long is still dealing with an ankle issue, which is bad news for Bears fans. This team is going to have to be tough up front on both sides of the ball, and Long is an anchor on their offensive line. Finally, the Bears signed Roberto Aguayo to kick for them, and it has not looked good so far.
