20 best college football coaches without a national championship
By Brad Weiss
Since the 1989 season, Bill Snyder has been the head coach of the Kansas State Wildcats for nearly ever season. Aside from a three-year span from 2006-09, Snyder has been the man in charge of the Wildcats program, and has done a terrific job as the head coach. Over the course of his career, Snyder has won over 200 games, and is currently the only active coach in the College Football Hall of Fame.
Throughout his tenure at Kansas State, Snyder has led his Wildcats to 18 bowl games. While he has won only ten of them, it does not change the fact that he is one of the best coaches in Big 12 history. Snyder has won two Big 12 titles, and has been named the Coach of the Year in the Big 12 four times.
From 1998-2000, the Wildcats dominated the Big 12. They won three straight conference titles, and in total, Snyder has led his teams to 13 top-25 finishes. Heading into the 2017 college football season, the 77-year old Snyder has brought his team to seven straight bowl games, and all signs point to the Wildcats being a bowl-eligible team again this season.

All 20 of these men had an incredible impact on their programs during their time coaching. While some still roam the sidelines, most of them do not have another shot at a national championship. Snyder has a pretty solid team at Kansas State in 2017, and while the title will likely evade him again, the 77-year old certainly has cemented his place in college football history.
