Danny Ferry
PF Duke

Danny Ferry was relatively quiet during his first two seasons with the Blue Devils, but he quickly became a star during his junior and senior seasons. He averaged 19.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game during his junior season. Ferry was named the ACC Player of the Year that season. He then followed up that remarkable season with an even more dominant showing, by averaging 22.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. He earned the ACC Player of the Year for a second consecutive season, and was also rewarded with the Naismith Award, and the UPI Player of the Year Award. Ferry seemed to be helping revolutionize the power forward position at the time, with his great passing skills and his ability to space the floor with his shooting. He would project to fit quite nicely with today’s NBA, as the stretch four position has become more important than ever. His playing style was very Kevin Love-esque, although he was not as good of a shooter Love is.

Ferry’s ability to work  in the post, and dish a pass to an open teammate will work well in today’s NBA where guys are more athletic than ever and looking to attack the basket. It would certainly be interesting to see how Ferry would fare given today’s circumstances.
