3. Kansas City Chiefs

In the earlier report by Adam Schefter, it was mentioned that the other team that has a strong interest in Haden is the Chiefs. Their interest is not misplaced. Kansas City is doing well with their 2015 first round selection Marcus Peters, but their depth chart is pretty empty after him.

Without a doubt, Peters is the number one cornerback on the Chiefs roster, but things get a little murkier after that. Steven Nelson is a solid corner, but Haden would be able to come in immediately and compete. Even if he didn’t win the starting job, Haden would be the best backup on the team.

In what looks to be Alex Smith’s last year with the club with his contract expiring and Kansas City drafting his replacement, the Chiefs could be in a position to win this year. Cornerback competition and depth will be extremely important in that instance.

Also, Haden is only 28 years old. He could have another 3-4 years as a helpful cornerback, and if the Chiefs have the pieces installed for their passing defense, it could definitely ease Patrick Mahomes’ transition into the NFL.
