Los Angeles Angels: Eduardo Paredes

The Angels continue their unlikely run at a playoff berth led by Mike Trout and Andrelton Simmons. Outside of those two, there’s not a whole lot else going on in Anaheim, but the AL Wild Card race is a strange one this year. Unfortunately for the Angels, their farm system is one of the worst in the league. There will be no impact bat or flame-throwing reliever riding in to save the day.

Eduardo Paredes is a right-handed reliever who has already been up with the Angels for a brief stint earlier this year. He logged 15 innings in nine games and had a 3.00 ERA. Command was a slight issue as he walked five.

Paredes has been a closer at times in the minor leagues, but does not have the overall dominating stuff to continue closing in the big leagues. He is a two-pitch pitcher with a sinker and slider combination. His sinker comes at between 92-95 mph and has good run and a high spin rate. Paredes throws an interesting slider from a low arm slot. These two pitches have allowed him to strike out well over a batter per inning in the minor leagues.

Bullpen help is what the Angels need most right now for their playoff push. Blake Parker and Yusmeiro Petit have both been solid, but they need help. That’s where Paredes comes in.
