Uruguay vs. Argentina live stream: Watch World Cup qualifying online
Uruguay face Argentina at Estadio Centenario on Thursday, Aug. 31. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Uruguay and Argentina face off Thursday in an important match in World Cup qualifying. The sides are separated by only a point in the standings, but Argentina are currently ranked third and Uruguay at 17th in FIFA’s current World Rankings.
Argentina come into the game losing three of their last five in World Cup qualifiers. They’ll need every ounce of skill from Lionel Messi and Paulo Dybala to get a win against Uruguay. Dybala has an excellent chance without Juventus teammate Gonzalo Higuain on the roster to make a big impact. He’s shown flashes, but has yet to explode while playing alongside his Argentinian teammate, Messi.
Uruguay will likely be without star Luis Suarez for this match and the foreseeable future. Despite training with the team, Suarez may not be playing due to an injury to his right knee. They’ll rely on their defensive prowess with Diego Godin holding the back line to stop Argentina’s attack. Godin is used to shutting down a Messi-led side, as he did so last year in the Champions League for Atletico Madrid.

Both Argentina and Uruguay need a positive result. Neither side has been performing up to expectations as of late and this is an excellent opportunity to buck that trend. It would be a huge disappointment if one of these teams missed the World Cup.
