Josh Rosen completes improbable comeback for UCLA vs. Texas A&M: 3 takeaways
1. This game was over before halftime … or at least it was supposed to be
38-10.
That was the first half score as the Aggies and Bruins headed for the locker rooms.
Yeah, it was as ugly as the score would suggest.
Texas A&M pummeled UCLA on both sides of the ball in the trenches, providing huge holes for their running back depth to sprint through and making life miserable for Josh Rosen on the defensive front.
Rosen was just 9-of-23 for 114 yards in the first half, while the Aggie running back core ran for 286 (!) total yards and five (!!) touchdowns, including three from Keith Ford alone.
Neither team reached 30+ points last year in regulation and it took A&M less than 30 minutes to surpass that mark on Sunday night thanks to their relentless rushing attack. The Aggies ran 48 plays in the first half and 36 were rushes. They averaged 7.9 yards a carry in the half.
Jim Mora, your thoughts?
Mora’s seat in Westwood went from warm to hot last season after Josh Rosen’s shoulder injury and a season that resulted in just four wins during UCLA’s 12 games last season.
And, in one half on Sunday night, the seat went from hot to diablo.
But then things took a radical turn…
