Connor Williams

OT, Texas

The Texas Longhorns began their tenure under Tom Herman with a complete dud of a performance on Saturday. The Maryland Terrapins came into Austin and set the tempo to come away with the upset victory.

It was a bad day for many Longhorns, including Connor Williams. The star tackle and one of the best offensive lineman prospects had a day he would like to forget himself in the team’s disappointing loss.

Williams had some holding calls that really derailed some drives. The worst of which came after the Longhorns managed to convert a 4th and 14. It was just one of many moments of angst for the team on the day.

However, Williams isn’t one to shy away from a bad day and is one of the hardest workers in the NCAA. He’ll have plenty of opportunities to bounce back this week when the Longhorns host San Jose State.

For a guy that has drawn some lofty comparisons, he’ll look to quickly clean up those penalties. A couple of penalties shouldn’t be an indictment of him too much right now. If it becomes a pattern, then it’s a different story.
