15. Georgia Bulldogs

Ranking coming into Week 1: No. 15

There’s good news and then there’s bad news for the Georgia Bulldogs after one week of the 2017-18 season.

The good news is that they didn’t fall victim to Appalachian State like Michigan did a decade ago to open up that wacky 2007 season.

The bad news is that starting quarterback Jacob Eason has already been ruled out of next week’s big showdown with Notre Dame in South Bend.

Georgia is Notre Dame’s first SEC opponent in the regular season since Charlie Weis’ first season in South Bend back in 2005, but with the Bulldogs going in without their starter under center, freshman Jake Fromm will get his first start.

No pressure, kid. You only have to lead your team to victory in one of the most prestigious stadiums in college football history next week.

The wild card in next week’s game for the Bulldogs is their best offensive weapon: running back Nick Chubb. When Nick Chubb is healthy and running, you have a chance against anybody. Chubb ran 15 times for 96 yards and two scores in the Bulldogs’ 31-10 win on Saturday. He’ll have to get some more touches next week against the Irish, who hung 49 on Temple in their season opener.
