Green Bay Packers 0-0

Last week: W, 24-10 vs. LAR
Last rank: 4th

The Green Bay Packers don’t have a great roster. There are ample holes in the secondary and the pass-rushing situation outside of Nick Perry is only average, even with the addition of Ahmad Brooks. The offensive line is a work in progress with Bryan Bulaga on the shelf with an ankle injury, while the losses of JC Tretter and T.J. Lang have to be accounted for.

Still, the Packers are one of the true half-dozen-or-so Super Bowl contenders, chiefly due to Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers, who enters his 13th season, is among the greatest to ever play the quarterback position. He’s already thrown for 297 touchdowns against only 72 interceptions, has two MVP awards and a Super Bowl ring. At this juncture, there is nothing left to prove, but plenty of resume-padding left to do.

Offensively, the Packers are absurdly talented. The receivers are a deep group led by Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson, while Geronimo Allison and Devante Adams are also weapons. The running back room is deep with the addition of Jamaal Williams to play alongside Ty Montgomery. Factor in the addition of tight end Martellus Bennett, and Green Bay should average in the neighborhood of 30 points per game.

If the defense can do enough with the acquisitions of rookie corner Kevin King and the aforementioned Brooks, the Packers could very well be hoisting their fifth Lombardi Trophy come February.
