Courtland Sutton

Wide Receiver, SMU

The Cleveland Browns made a trade with the Houston Texans last draft season so the Texans could trade up and take Deshaun Watson in the first round. Because of that trade, the Browns will have the Texans 2018 first round pick, and they should look to add to their offense with the second selection. We like for them to  go defense early in round one, but they can certainly add a talented wide receiver this late in round one.

Of all the wideouts in college football, one that does not get talked about enough is Courtland Sutton of SMU. Sutton has quietly put together a solid career for the Mustangs, and has positioned himself to be a first round pick next April. He has the size and speed to be a standout receiver at the next level, and the Browns could certainly use another guy on the outside for DeShone Kizer in the passing game.

The 2017 season figures to be a season of growth for the Browns, who are actually starting to build their organization the right way. It appears they will stick with Hue Jackson at head coach, and he should do wonders for his new quarterback, Kizer. If they can start bringing talent in around Kizer, he could prove to be the next best quarterback in the AFC North after Ben Roethlisberger retires.

Sutton is a playmaker, and Corey Coleman is a guy who should take the next step forward at wideout for the Browns this season. The Browns may in fact grab a running back here, but we feel they are going to start building around Kizer. They have already done a nice job building up the offensive line, so it is only a matter of time before they start adding weapons that go well with the strong right arm of Kizer.
