Matchups to watch

Mike McGlinchey vs. Lorenzo Carter

Notre Dame’s best player is their left tackle in senior Mike McGlinchey. He might be the best tackle prospect in Division I football. If he plays up to his abilities in 2017, he could be joining former Golden Domer Ronnie Stanley of the Baltimore Ravens as a top-10 pick in the NFL Draft. McGlinchey would not be the first member of his family to go top-10, as his cousin is Atlanta Falcons star quarterback Matt Ryan.

Looking to get after McGlinchey coming off the edge is Georgia senior pass rusher, Lorenzo Carter. He and redshirt senior Davin Bellamy, like Chubb and Michel, elected to come back to school to take care of some unfinished business. Both are explosive off the edge, but Carter has the higher pro potential of the two.

Nyles Morgan vs. Isaac Nauta

Besides stuffing the run, the Notre Dame defense needs to key in on the many tight ends that Chaney has at his disposal in play calling for the Georgia offense. None are as talented as true sophomore Isaac Nauta. The former IMG Academy product could be the best tight end prospect since O.J. Howard.

Trying to stop him might be senior linebacker, Nyles Morgan. Notre Dame is seasoned between the tackles defensively. Having a true freshman slinging him the ball could make it harder for Nauta to come up with receptions. Look for Morgan and company to key in on this standout Georgia tight end.
