Fantasy football Week 1 rankings: Who to start and sit
Start: Stefon Diggs
Calling all Minnesota player owners – play your Vikings! Sam Bradford and co kick off the season on Monday night against the New Orleans Saints and their porous defense, which has been in the top five in points per game allowed in each of the last three season. There seems to be no end to an era of shootouts the Saints, as Drew Brees has to score more than 30 points to keep his team in any game.
Minnesota, while they are a team predicated on a nasty defense causing havoc and forcing turnovers, have made upgrades on offense this year. Dalvin Cook, their second round pick, was a huge get for the organisation as they have found a backfield star and a top fantasy back. Latavius Murray, signed before Cook was drafted, has scored 18 touchdowns in the last two years and should form a strong tandem with the rook.

Then, there’s Diggs, this year’s breakout wide receiver. He astonishingly managed 84 catches in just 13 games last year, putting him at 14th in the league in that category. For context, every other receiver in the top 32 for catches played more games than him. The low yardage (903) and touchdown (3) totals may have owners a little wary, but he’s got supreme talent and is bound to build on those numbers. What better way to kick it off than against one of the worst defenses in the league?
