16. Janis Timma, PF, Baskonia

Timma moves from Russia to Spain this year, as the Orlando Magic draft-and-stash player heads to Baskonia. One of Europe’s classic three/four hybrid players, Timma is both a solid shooter from beyond the arc, and strong enough to battle with opposing big men under the basket for rebounds. He proved to be incredibly versatile for Zenit St. Petersburg last season, and he should have a more featured role with Baskonia this year in Euroleague.

At 25-years old, this is probably the final showcase year for Timma if he wants to head to the NBA. He hasn’t proven that he can consistently be a strong catch-and-shoot threat, and despite all of his talents around the rim, he’s not big enough to be a full-time four in the NBA. However, he is underrated defensively, and maybe all he needs is a different system, away from the ball dominance of Sergey Karasev, to take over. After all, his fellow countryman Davis Bertans used a hot year at Baskonia to secure an NBA contract. Maybe Timma can do the same.
