Patriots’ James White stiff-arms the soul out of a Chiefs defensive back
Chiefs cornerback Terrance Mitchell probably won’t want to look at the highlight reel after the game, especially not the stiff arm that James White dished out to him here.
In the NFL’s Thursday night opener, the Kansas City Chiefs are battling the New England Patriots. Already, we’ve seen points put up on the board from both sides. The Chiefs scored on a passing touchdown to Demetrius Harris. The Patriots got theirs thanks to rushing touchdowns by Mike Gillislee.
Gillislee was one of the Patriots’ newest acquisitions this offseason. He had spent time with the Buffalo Bills before signing on with New England, much like former teammate Stephon Gilmore. One of their mainstays was able to get on the highlight reel though. James White, Super Bowl LI hero, rumbled through the red zone early on in the first quarter. Chiefs cornerback Terrance Mitchell decided to take a run at him.
Then… this happened.
That is vicious stuff from the former Wisconsin Badgers tailback. White didn’t appear to care one bit about Mitchell or his soul. Seeing as he likely snatched it right from him with one swift swat to the face with his hand. Mitchell may have to go searching for it in the ocean. That is, assuming it didn’t go to where he went to school out in Eugene at The University of Oregon.
White hasn’t gotten a touchdown quite yet in the game. It’s still early on, so there’s plenty of time left for him to reach pay dirt. Gillislee is doing that job so far, having picked up two rushing TD in the first half. Whatever happens through the rest of Thursday night’s game for White may not top this stiff-arm though.
