Second baseman Joe Panik just broke a Giants franchise record with 12 hits in a three-game series. There has not been an MLB player with 12 hits in a three-game series since 1981 when Jerry Remy did it. Panik is now batting .310/.364/.479 in the second half. He has been one of few bright spots for the Giants.

Pablo Sandoval has not been a bright spot for the Giants. He is now hitless in 38 straight at-bats to set his own franchise record. When the 2017 season ends, that could be it for the Kung Fu Panda.

Khris Davis is here to chew bubble gum, hit home runs and strike out, and he’s all out of bubble gum. With 182 strikeouts, Davis leads the majors, which really is special considering the pace with which Aaron Judge and Joey Gallo have racked up the whiffs all season. He also has 39 home runs, which is tied with Judge for most in the American League.

Ryon Healy and Matt Olson will join Davis next season among the most prolific two-true-outcome hitters in the league. The two have combined for 38 home runs and only 32 walks in 173 games with 171 strikeouts. Cheap power is the name of the game for the A’s as they attempt to get back to winning.
