Loser: Auburn Tigers (No. 13 down to No. 15)

The mighty offense of the Auburn Tigers looked anything but on Saturday night. Traveling to Clemson to take on their fellow Tigers wasn’t expected to be a walk in the park, but Auburn also believed it was worth more than six points on the board.

Clemson absolutely shut the Tigers down. It wasn’t pretty from start to finish as Auburn’s once-potent offense was stymied. Baylor-transfer Jarrett Stidham was quiet throughout the game, passing for just 79 yards on 13-of-24 completions. He couldn’t get anything going down the field, and, well, it was because he had no time to throw.

Stidham was sacked an astounding 11 times by Clemson. So no, the issues in the passing game were not all on him. His confidence wavered as the game progressed and it’s not easy to engineer a touchdown drive when you have defenders breathing down your back.

It was most certainly a tough loss for Auburn on the road and a drop in the rankings was expected, but that poor offensive showing was a real eye-opener to voters. Will the Tigers be able to turn things around quickly?
