No. 20: Stanford Cardinal (1-1)

Ranking coming into Week 2: No. 14

The Cardinal, although they put forth a solid effort on the road on Saturday night against USC, just couldn’t stop the rushing attack of the Trojans in their 42-24 loss. The Trojans ran for 307 yards on Saturday, including 116 of those yards from Ronald Jones II. Bryce Love did run for 160 yards on 17 carries, but it just wasn’t enough for the trees at the Coliseum.

No. 19: Auburn Tigers (1-1)

Ranking coming into Week 2: No. 13

Despite just 117 total yards of offense in Death Valley against the defending champs on Saturday night, the Auburn defense kept the SEC Tigers in the ballgame all night, but it just wasn’t enough. Auburn had 13 of the 31 first downs in the contest and had the ball for almost five more minutes than Clemson on Saturday night, but neither offense could find a rhythm against the other’s defense. It was that kind of game.

No. 18: Washington State Cougars (2-0)

Ranking coming into Week 2: No. 20

Even though they put everyone through torture with three overtimes against Boise State on Saturday ni … er, Sunday morning … the Cougars came all the way back from 31-10 down in the fourth quarter to win it 47-44. Yes, Texas A&M … Boise State feels your pain and understands completely.

No. 17: Kansas State Wildcats (2-0)

Ranking coming into Week 2: No. 19

You probably didn’t know that the Kansas State Wildcats were an offensive juggernaut these days, but they totally are now. It’s been confirmed. The Wildcats hung 55 points on Charlotte at home on Saturday afternoon, including 38 in the first half alone. KSU ran 51 times for 304 yards and five touchdowns as a team against the 49ers, who could only muster 168 total yards of offense in Manhattan against the Wildcats defense.

No. 16: Miami Hurricanes (1-0)

Ranking coming into Week 2: No. 16

Miami’s game against Arkansas State was postponed because of Hurricane Irma heading in the direction of the southeast portion of the United States this past weekend.
