Chicago Bulls: Steve Kerr

Though the second coming of the triangle offense failed in New York, Steve Kerr thrived in the system during his time with the Chicago Bulls. Kerr shot 47.9 percent on 3-pointers during his five years as a Bull.

Kerr shot over .500 from 3-point range twice in his NBA career (1989-90 with Cleveland and 1994-95 with Chicago). More importantly, Kerr is now the coach of the two-time champion Golden State Warriors, uh I mean he drilled the game winning 3-pointer in Game 6 of the 1997 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz.

Kerr was a regular at All-Star Weekend during his time with the Bulls. He participated in four straight 3-point contests from 1994-97. He finally prevailed in 1997 taking out another player that is on this list in the finals.

The Arizona alum also tasted glory as a member of the San Antonio Spurs, winning his fourth title in his final NBA season. A popular anecdote is of the training regimen Kerr put himself through while playing for the Trail Blazers, Kerr would sit on the bench and have a normal conversation with a coach and at a moment’s notice the coach would yell, “Go!” and the two would sprint on the court for one shot. They repeated this seven times for a length of 30 minutes.

As mentioned above, Kerr has found success post-career as a head coach of the current defending champions. In his first three years on the sidelines he has won 67, 73 and 67 regular seasons games. Kerr was also briefly part of the Phoenix Suns organization as the general manager from 2007-10.

Of all the former players on this list Kerr has likely been the most successful in the NBA after he stopped playing the game.
