Big 12 power rankings, Week 3: Oklahoma tops Ohio State, Pokes stay hot
Week 2 was another easy victory for Oklahoma State, who routed South Alabama, 44-7. It took the Jaguars until the fourth quarter to score a point, while the Cowboys offense went off. Heisman Trophy candidate Mason Rudolph had 335 passing yards and three touchdowns, while wide receiver James Washington had 98 yards of his own.
The final roadblock before Big 12 play will be slightly tougher for Mike Gundy’s squad. They will face Pittsburgh, who battled a tough Penn State team on Saturday. If running back Qadree Ollison can be stopped, then Oklahoma State should continue its success.
Oklahoma had the toughest game of any Big 12 team in Week 2 but walked out victoriously. This came against Ohio State, who was ranked No. 2.
The defense allowed 167 rushing yards to the Buckeyes. However, it shut down an anemic passing game, as JT Barrett had 183 yards on just over a 50 percent completion mark. He didn’t put up a touchdown, either.
As for Oklahoma, it was all about quarterback Baker Mayfield. His 386 passing yards and three touchdowns carried the offense to its 31-16 win, with Jeff Badet and Dimitri Flowers combining for 12 catches and 180 yards.
