Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA

Last week was all about talking of the heroics of Josh Rosen. Admittedly, it was truly remarkable what he was able to pull off in UCLA’s season-opener against Texas A&M. Sure, he wasn’t particularly good for the first three quarters of the game, but that was all erased with what he pulled off in the fourth quarter. The question with Rosen, though, has always been consistency and putting it all together over an extended period.

He undoubtedly showed that he was ready to try and step up moving forward, because he absolutely lit up Hawaii this past weekend. Sure, we’re talking about a Rainbow Warriors team that doesn’t particularly strike fear into anyone in the college football world. Even still, Rosen dominated like a Heisman-caliber quarterback should as he went 22-of-25 for 329 yards and five scores. More importantly, he’s still yet to throw an interception this season.

I’m still not wholly convinced that UCLA is all that good, or that Rosen will be able to keep this up. This week’s matchup against Memphis may not shed a whole lot of light on that matter. We’ll find out a bit more about how real of a candidate — and NFL caliber player — Rosen is as the season gets deep into conference play.
