Others In Consideration

Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU

After a quiet two-reception performance in the SMU season opener, Courtland Sutton exploded last weekend against North Texas with eight catches for 163 yards and four touchdowns. Now with a high-profile matchup against TCU this week, the dynamic receiver could really put himself on the map in terms of Heisman talk.

Shea Patterson, QB, Ole Miss

Shea Patterson isn’t a player that many people are talking about, but they probably should be. The Ole Miss signal caller has been phenomenal through the Rebels two opening games. He’s thrown for 918 yards while completing 76.9 percent of his throws and amassing nine touchdowns to only one pick. For him, he could become a viable candidate if he’s able to maintain when SEC play arrives.

Bryce Love, RB, Stanford
Through two games with the Stanford Cardinal this season, junior Bryce Love has been explosive. He’s only got 30 carries to his credit at this point, but he’s made the most of them. He’s amassed 340 yards on those touches (an 11.3 yards per carry average) and has two trips to the end zone as well. It’ll be curious to see if he gets a bigger workload moving forward.

Ronald Jones II, RB, USC

Again, Darnold remains the top Heisman Trophy candidate for the USC Trojans. With that being said, Ronald Jones has been fantastic thus far this season. He’s averaging 6.7 yards per carry while having 275 yards rushing and five touchdowns through only two games. We’ll see if he can start getting his due moving forward.
