The Diamondbacks lost a game this week, which should give the Dodgers hope that their own losing streak can eventually come to a merciful end. Baseball as a sport almost always evens itself out, and winning 52 of 61 games as the Dodgers did earlier this year could not go on forever. Winning 85 percent of your games for two months takes more than a little luck, no matter how good your starting pitching is.

The losing streak is now over for the Dodgers thanks to Clayton Kershaw who ran his record to 17-3 on Tuesday night with six strong innings. With their own ugly streak behind them, the Dodgers must regroup and focus on the upcoming postseason.

This skid has revealed some issues with the Dodgers roster and casts some doubt on their chances to win the World Series. They do not have a lineup that can bludgeon teams like the Indians, Astros, Nationals or Diamondbacks. The Dodgers are in danger of losing the number-one seed, which may not be a bad thing considering how much they have struggled against Arizona and Colorado of late.
