Tavarus McFadden

CB, Florida State

Last year’s interception leader won’t be back in action until Sept. 23 due to Hurricane Irma, but holds steady in the top 10 of the big board.

McFadden played well as part of a solid overall Florida State defensive effort in the opener against Alabama, helping to hold the Crimson Tide to just 96 passing yards. Florida State needed McFadden’s help more often in run support, and showed a strong all-around skill set with five tackles, including a few stops on quarterback Jalen Hurts on scrambles.

The junior emerged as one of the best playmaking cornerbacks the country last year with eight interceptions to led college football to earn All-American status. McFadden added 19 tackles and six pass breakups, yet will still somewhat overshadowed by a few other stars on the talented Seminoles defense.

NFL scouts won’t overlook McFadden, as he has next-level size and length at 6-2 and 198 pounds. McFadden has the athleticism to keep up with the nation’s fastest receivers down the field, and those interception numbers clearly indicate his ball skills, and his tackling seems to be improving based on the Alabama game.

With the premier matchup against Miami pushed back until Oct. 7, we won’t see McFadden and the Seminoles back in action until a week from Saturday.
