Harold Landry

DE, Boston College

While Boston College’s defense struggled as a unit in an ugly loss to Wake Forest, Landry continued to add to his impressive college resume.

Landry picked up his first sack of the young season in the third quarter on Demon Deacons quarterback John Wolford. The star defensive end continued to stuff the stat sheet by adding five tackles and a pass defense, although he was not quite as effective in rush defense as usual.

Many may have missed Landry’s spectacular 2016 season while playing for a lower-profile program, but he was the key piece on a Boston College team that won its first bowl game in nearly a decade. Following an outstanding sophomore campaign, Landry took things to the next level with 22 tackles for loss, 16 sacks, seven forced fumbles and an interception.

As those turnover numbers would indicate, Landry has great instincts for the ball in both pass rush and run defense, and is a hard hitter at 6-3, 250 pounds. Landry’s explosive first step helps him get in the opposing backfield in a flash, and he showed enough quickness to deal with one of the most explosive athletes in college football in Dalvin Cook in each of Boston College’s previous two meetings with Florida State.

Next week’s matchup against a talented Notre Dame offensive line will give Landry a chance to make a statement to NFL scouts.
