Josh Allen

QB, Wyoming

Following a poor performance in the opener, Allen bounced back and continues to own one of the most intriguing physical skill sets in the nation.

Allen completed 22 of his 32 passes for 328 yards and two touchdowns to key Wyoming’s easy 27-0 win over Gardner-Webb. While Allen wasn’t going up against the best competition, it was important for him to demonstrate better decision making and avoid any turnovers after making several mistakes in Week 1.

Of some concern is Allen’s rough 23-of-40 performance with a pair of interceptions against Iowa, one of two Power Five teams Wyoming is scheduled to face this year. Still, NFL scouts won’t ignore the 8.4 yards per attempt or 35 total touchdowns Allen posted last year, and his physical traits project well at the next level.

At 6-5 and 233 pounds with excellent athleticism, Allen is undoubtedly going to draw comparisons to Carson Wentz, who played in the same collegiate system under head coach Craig Bohl. Allen tried to force too much in 2016 and threw 15 interceptions as a result, but the upside is just too high for most quarterback-needy teams to ignore.

Next week will be crucial for Allen’s status on the big board, as Wyoming takes on a talented Oregon team in Laramie.
