Fantasy football 2017, Week 2 rankings: Who to start and sit
Start: Amari Cooper
Amari Cooper had a great day on Sunday. His final stat line only showed five catches for 62 yards, but he was majorly involved. He had a touchdown, and in a later series saw three consecutive goal-line targets and the Raiders seemed to be clearly targeting their superstar on the verge of a breakout season. Almost 40 percent of the team’s targets went Cooper’s way:
After beginning his career with two straight 70-catch, 1,000-plus yard seasons, it still feels as though Cooper doesn’t get enough respect – and it’s partly due to lack of touchdowns. Only six touchdowns as a rookie followed by five in his sophomore season affected fantasy owners enough that he’s not regarded as an elite option. However, his play on the field means he should be. An outstanding route runner, he bulked up this offseason and it showed as he barrelled his way into the end zone for his first score of the season.
The Raiders face the lowly Jets this weekend, who surrendered 21 points to a Buffalo offense that is far from a great one. Oakland will be able to light up the scoreboard against New York.
