Start: Ty Montgomery

Montgomery completely shut my criticism down with his performance against Seattle. I had listed him as a sit against the Seahawks, citing the awesome defense and my question marks that he would hold down the full-time role, but he came through with a strong performance for fantasy owners. The kid is legit.

The Packers face Atlanta on Sunday – the same Atlanta who just surrendered 113 total yards and eight receptions to pass-catching rookie Tarik Cohen in their victory over Chicago. If that’s anything to go by, Montgomery will feast out of the backfield in this matchup. In Week 1, he had four catches, and was locked in as the top runner too. It’s a great offense to hold a featured role in for fantasy purposes, and we can expect big things moving forward from number 88.

The 54 yards on the ground weren’t what we wanted, but the 19 carries were what he hoped for, and a clear indication of how the carry split will be between the veteran and Jamaal Williams, who ultimately only ended up with two runs for nine yards. While Green Bay’s first game was a tough, low-scoring win, the last three times they faced the Falcons the points totals were 65, 65 and 80. I’m expecting fireworks.
