Courtland Sutton

Wide Receiver, SMU

The Houston Texans looked pretty bad during their loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars this past Sunday, as they really struggled to get anything going on offense. Expected to be a playoff team again in 2017, the Texans have a lot of work to do, and do not even have a top pick in the NFL Draft if they struggle. That pick belongs to the Cleveland Browns, who received the Texans pick when they traded up to draft Deshaun Watson last April.

With their second pick in the first round, we like the Browns to improve on their wide receiving corps. Courtland Sutton has been a dominant player during his time at SMU, and has one of the best NFL skill sets of any wideout in this draft. He has the size and speed to be a true WR1 at the next level, and the Browns need all the playmakers they can get on offense.

Cleveland did not look terrible in their Week 1 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, losing by one a field goal. Rookie quarterback DeSHone Kizer looks like the right choice to be the team’s starter, and he should get better each week. The Browns are trending in the right direction, and while they are going to struggle this season, good things are certainly on the horizon.
