Martinas Rankin

Offensive Tackle, Mississippi State

The Denver Broncos did what they had to do this past Monday night, beating the Los Angeles Chargers inside Sports Authority Field at Mile High. During the Summer, quarterback Trevor Siemian beat out Paxton Lynch for the starting job, and he looked very good in the opener. Siemian threw for two touchdowns, and ran in another, which was an impressive show behind a mediocre offensive line.

During the 2017 NFL Draft, the team went out and drafted Garett Bolles, a solid tackle from Utah. Bolles earned the starting left tackle job this offseason, and showed he can definitely stay there at the next level on Monday night. In 2018, the team should look to go offensive line once again, bringing in Martinas Rankin from Mississippi State.

For years, the offensive line in Denver has been an issue, and bringing in Rankin would give the team two young bookends for the next ten years. Rankin has the talent to stay on the left side of the offense in the NFL, but teaming him with Bolles would give the team two big bodies to run behind. Denver already has an elite defense, and if they can put together a solid offensive line, they could be a very good team for years to come.
