2018 NFL Mock Draft: Saquon Barkley crashing QB party
By Brad Weiss
The Detroit Lions struggled mightily against the Arizona Cardinals for three quarters on Sunday, but they were able to pull it out late. Star quarterback Matthew Stafford showed why he was given such a huge contract this offseason, connecting on two fourth quarter touchdown passes to rookie Kenny Golladay. This Lions team made the playoffs last season, and they could very well be back in the mix in 2017.
Spending all that money on your quarterback looked to be a good investment for the organization on Sunday, as Stafford willed his team to the victory. If they want to keep him healthy for the duration of the contract, they should look to continue to put good offensive linemen in front of him. The Oakland Raiders did that with Derek Carr, who is only second to Stafford in terms of money per year.
Orlando Brown of the Oklahoma Sooners is a beast of a lineman, and his game definitely equates to the NFL. Brown has the ability to play on either side of the line at the next level, and could prove to be an anchor for the Lions offensive line down the road. The Lions looked very good once they got it going last Sunday, and with an offense that revolves around their quarterback, keeping him healthy has got to be the priority on draft day.
