Dorance Armstrong Jr.

Defensive End, Kansas

The Carolina Panthers got off to a solid start to the 2017 NFL season, as they went into San Francisco and beat the hapless 49ers. The Panthers allowed only three points against the 49ers, who are not expected to be good at all  this season. Hopefully for Panthers fans, this team is closer to the team that went to the Super Bowl after the 2016 season, and not the one who went 6-10 last season.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Panthers made a nice move this offseason by bringing back Julius Peppers. However, he is definitely starting to get up there in age, and they need to make sure they have a solid replacement when he finally decides to hang them up for good. Dorance Armstrong Jr. is not a player that  many people are talking about, but he has the skill set to be a dominant player at the next level.

Armstrong is a quarterback’s nightmare from his defensive end position, and he has the build to play outside linebacker in the NFL as well. He has that drive to him that the Panthers saw in Peppers when they took him out of North Carolina so long ago, so it would make sense for them to bring in a player with the same kind of skill set. Armstrong should be available this late in round one, and the Panthers could be picking here by the looks of their performance on Sunday.
