2018 NFL Mock Draft: Saquon Barkley crashing QB party
By Brad Weiss
During Week 1 of the season, the Indianapolis Colts actually looked like the worst team in football. Playing against the hapless Los Angeles Rams, the Colts lost by a score of 46-9, as they could do nothing on offense. Not having Andrew Luck under center for the beginning of the season is going to hurt them big time, so they could be picking in the top-5 next April.
With their top pick, they actually do not need a quarterback, as the franchise expects Luck to come back healthy later this season. An area they really need help is in the secondary, so they should look to bring in a defensive back with their top pick. If they are drafting this early in round one, Derwin James from Florida State should be available, and he would be a perfect fit in Indy.
James can do it all from his safety position, and even has good enough feet to move over to cornerback at the next level. He is not afraid to come up and make the big hit, and he has the kind of personality that makes people follow him. He has come back from a devastating injury last season to be one of the best defensive players in the country, and some believe he is the best overall player in college football right now.
