Mike McGlinchey

Offensive Tackle, Notre Dame

The Los Angeles Chargers gave the Denver Broncos all they could handle on Monday night, nearly pulling off a stunning comeback in the fourth quarter. Down 24-7 entering the fourth, the Chargers got two touchdown passes from Philip Rivers, cutting the deficit to three. A blocked field goal as time expired gave the Broncos the victory, but the Chargers were better than expected in this one.

As he showed on Monday night, Rivers still has a lot left in the tank, so the Chargers should look to draft a lineman in the first round next April. Arguably the best offensive tackle in this draft class is Mike McGlinchey, who has proven to be a monster during his time with the Fighting Irish. He could have went in the first round last year, and in a draft class with lots of offensive line talent, he is the best.

The AFC West is going to be tough to navigate this season, as all four teams could be vying for a playoff spot come Week 17. It looks as if the Chargers will be able to hang in with the best of the division, and could be a player or two away from being one of the top teams in the AFC West. Protecting Rivers has to be priority No. 1, as you never know how many good years the veteran has left in him.
