5. Chelsea

A 6-0 win may lead some to believe Chelsea should rank higher than fifth. But the Blues were always going to beat Champions League debutants Qarabag and beat them handily.

The fact Chelsea managed to score so many despite making several changes, shows the strength in depth of this squad. Contrary to popular opinion, the Blues recruited well this summer.

Bakayoko, Zappacosta, striker Alvaro Morata, defender Antonio Rudiger and midfielder Danny Drinkwater have added the talent and depth manager Antonio Conte craves.

Zappacosta, Bakayoko and Batshuayi, Morata’s replacement on the night, all scoring offered proof of said strength in depth. Yet the biggest boost for Chelsea came via the return from injury of Eden Hazard.

The mercurial No. 10 is an outrageously gifted match-winner when in the mood and on form. Getting Hazard up to speed with Morata will further boost Chelsea’s potential to go a long way in Europe this season.
