3. Hunter Renfrow, Clemson, WR

Hunter Renfrow has been a big part of this Clemson offense since joining the team in 2015. The junior was a favorite target of Deshaun Watson and has been targeted often early in the season by Kelly Bryant. Through two games, Renfrow has caught 11 passes, but only amassed 78 yards receiving.

The 180-pound receiver is quite the success story having began his career as a walk-on. His position as the slot receiver is integral in Clemson’s offense.

While he may not catch the deep ball many times, Renfrow is very important in short yardage situations. The 5-foot-10 receiver is able to squeeze into small places on slants and slip past the coverage.

In each of his first two seasons, Renfrow caught for over 490 yards. He scored six touchdowns in 2016 and five the year before. He is great in the red zone for the reasons listed above.

Renfrow is best known for catching the game-winning pass in the national title game last season against Alabama to secure a big upset for the Tigers. That was his 10th catch of the game. He made receptions for 92 yards in the biggest game of his life. He was responsible for two of Clemson’s five touchdowns in that game.

As a freshman, he caught seven passes for 88 yards in Clemson’s National Championship loss. He caught two passes in the end zone in that one, as well. There is no doubt that Renfrow shows up for the big games; this one should be no exception.
