Loser – Mark Whipple

The Mark Whipple era could soon be coming to an end in UMass if the losses keep piling up. He was always going to get a year to get things turned around after last season because of his tenure with the program.

However, the Minutemen have now dropped four straight to begin the season and there doesn’t appear to be an end in sight. Everyone can pencil in a fifth straight next week, as they will take on Tennessee.

To have a stretch like this after the disaster that was last year could be enough for the program to finally decide to go in a different direction. Eventually everyone outwears their welcome and it’s time to go in a new direction.

For Whipple, he put in his decade and now the sand in the hourglass has almost run out completely. To ask UMass to go beat an SEC school at this point seems like the ultimate task considering their recent trend.

Then again, if there’s any SEC school that likes to play around in these games, it’s the Volunteers. Whipple better hope for his sake that that Volunteers are just having one of those nights next week.
