4. Kerwynn Williams

Williams was one of the hot waiver wire pickups this week before the David Johnson news became official, and now we know the Cardinals have lost their star back to the injured reserve, Williams becomes an even more valuable asset moving forward and worthy of playing in most leagues.

Arizona, despite losing one of the best backs in the game, have decided to stick with Williams, Andre Ellington and newly re-signed Chris Johnson (who I predicted they would pick up) as their running back committee – and Williams looks like the one with the most potential to have a feature-type workload. He has a career 5.4 yards per carry average, took over when David Johnson went down last week, and had a whopping 8.7 yards per carry on 18 rushes in relief of DJ last year. Only 26 years old and with not a lot of tread on his tires, he has the chance to make himself a name to consider in the future.

The Cardinals face the lowly Colts this week, and have every chance at bouncing back from a loss in Week 1. While Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald will likely be at the forefront of the offense, don’t be surprised if Williams has a breakout performance.
