3. Alvin Kamara

Who would have thought that in a backfield of Adrian Peterson, Mark Ingram and third-round rookie Alvin Kamara, the first-year player would have the most carries and tie for most yards on the ground in Week 1? It was a very even split at seven for Kamara and six for both of the veterans, but it’s clear he’s not just a pick for the future and will be involved from the get-go.

Kamara was one of my favorite backs coming out of college (Tennessee), as he offered great versatility – excelling as a runner, receiver and in the return game. He looked fantastic in the preseason with a 22-yard run in his first game and a 50-yard touchdown with his very first touch in Week 2, and has big-play potential very time he touches the ball.

The New England Patriots allowed 42 points to the Kansas City Chiefs last week, and now they face a much more productive quarterback and historically better offense in New Orleans – the Saints have their very own rookie runner who they could unleash on the weekend. Don’t be surprised if New Orleans aim to appease Adrian Peterson by giving him and the whole backfield more of a run this week. Kamara could explode.
